Ishan Kishan celebrated his Team India selection with a breathtaking century for Jharkhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Wednesday, December 24 at the Narendra Modi Stadium Ground ‘B’ in Motera, Ahmedabad. The southpaw smashed a 33-ball hundred to guide his team to a massive total of 412/9 against Karnataka.
Kishan played a stunning innings of 125 off 39 balls, smashing seven fours and 14 sixes during his knock. Apart from him, Virat Singh also played a brilliant innings of 88 off 68 balls, hitting eight fours and four sixes. Kumar Kushagra also made a valuable contribution to help Jharkhand cross the 400-run mark.
Kishan’s century came on his Team India comeback when he was recently selected for the T20 World Cup 2026 as a back-up wicketkeeper alongside Sanju Samson. The Jharkhand captain earned his place in the squad after a successful campaign in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025.
He led his team to its first SMAT triumphleading from the front with 517 runs in 10 innings at an average of 57.44 and a strike rate of over 197. The left-hander’s strongest statement came in the final against Haryana where he smashed a stunning 101 off 49 balls. Kishan led Jharkhand from the front and powered his side to a massive 262/3. He hit six fours and ten sixes and was named man of the match in his team’s 69-run victory.
