Virat Kohli grooving to Karan Aujla on Winning Speech says the song reminds him of his dad

Virat Kohli stole the limelight alongside Punjabi music sensation Karan Aujla at the star-studded One8 event in New Delhi and delivered one of the standout moments of the night. As Aujla performed his chart-topping song Winning Speech, the former Indian captain entered the stage and joined him, with the duo dancing together to the delight of the audience at the One8 event.

Kohli later spoke about the impact Aujla’s music had on him, revealing that the Victory Speech had a deeply personal meaning. During an on-stage interview, as quoted by The Indian Express, Kohli said that he had been watching Aujla’s work long before their friendship developed.

“You write songs from your heart and it shows. You also represent your story, which is quite special. One song that resonates with me the most is ‘victory speech” Kohli said as quoted by the Indian Express.

WHY VICTORY SPEECH REMINDS KOHLI OF HIS DAD

The batting great also explained why the song resonates with him on an emotional level. Kohli said he sees similarities between Aujla’s life story and his own, especially the shared experience of losing their fathers at a young age, which makes the track all the more meaningful to him.

“It explains the journey he went through and I also felt some similarity in it with my journey. I also lost my dad when I was quite young. So the song is quite special to me. I used to listen to it often before I went to play matches,” Kohli said.

Kohli is expected to be part of the squad for the England ODIs next month, but his participation will depend on his fitness. Kohli suffered an injury in the final of IPL 2026 and was ruled out of the recent ODI series against Afghanistan.
