Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (Image credit: ICC) Vaibhav Sooryavanshi once again showed why he is regarded as one of India’s brightest young talents as he produced a breathtaking 94 off just 29 balls against Sri Lanka A in the final of the Tri-Nation Series. The 15-year-old struck at an incredible 324.14, hammering 10 fours and 8 sixes before crashing a 6-run century. While the innings ranks among the most devastating ever played by India A in the 50-over format, it was not the fastest shot of his young career. The 15-year-old opener unleashed a blistering onslaught on the Sri Lankan bowlers after Sri Lanka A opted to bat first, racing to his half-century in just 11 deliveries, conjuring up a stunning sequence of 4, 4, 4, 6, 6, 0, 6, 4, 4, 6, the first 11 deliveries. With this, Sooryavanshi broke the previous world record for a 12-ball fifty, which was set by Sri Lanka’s Kaushalya Weeraratne in 2005. But this was only his second best innings in terms of strike rate. The best came in November 2025 when, aged just 14 years and 232 days, the left-handed opener broke records with a remarkable 144 off 42 balls against the UAE in the Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament. In this T20 match, he smashed 11 fours and 15 sixes and scored a staggering strike rate of 342.86. He reached his century in just 32 balls, making it the third-fastest T20 century by an Indian batsman with Rishabh Pant smashing a 32-ball hundred for Delhi in the SMAT. Sooryavanshi powered India A to a monumental 297/4 in their 20 overs and played a key role in guiding the side to an emphatic 148-run victory. Though Vaibhav Sooyavanshi’s highest finish for Team India came in the U19 final against England in 2026. Vaibhav dismantled England’s bowling attack with 15 fours and 15 sixes to score 175 runs off just 80 balls at a strike rate of 218.75 to power India to a record of 11/19.
