
Minister for Roads and Buildings and Cinema Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said that short films provide creative freedom to young filmmakers, allow them to experiment, think innovatively and present their stories in their own style.
Inaugurating the Hyderabad International Short Film Festival (HISFF) 2025 along with Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, the minister pointed out that many leading filmmakers started their careers with short films.
He said Hyderabad has become a major hub for cinema today, attracting filmmakers from all over India and described HISFF 2025 as a positive beginning for Hyderabad and Telangana. He said that short films continue to be a strong platform for discovering new talent.
Reiterating the state government’s commitment to the film industry, he said that the Telangana government under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is extending full support to cinema. He added that the government aims to make Telangana the best state in the country for filmmakers by providing easy permits and better infrastructure.
He also appreciated the participation of filmmakers from northeastern states, saying that stories from eight states are being screened at the festival. “Hyderabad represents a mini-India and such festivals help bring the country closer together,” he said.
Film Development Corporation (FDC) chairman Dil Raju, FDC managing director CH Priyanka, festival organizer Uma Maheshwar Rao along with filmmakers and delegates from different parts of the country were present.
