“Gill picked up a niggle in Lucknow, so Sanju is coming,” Surya said at the toss. Moreover, Bumrah was also included in the XI in place of Harshit Rana while Washington Sundar was added behind Kuldeep Yadav. South Africa’s Aiden Markram won the toss and asked India to bat first. Gill arrived in Ahmedabad with the team despite the injury he sustained in the lead-up to the fourth T20I. As reported by TOI earlier, he was set to miss Wednesday’s fourth T20I in Lucknow after being injured in the nets, but the match was called off due to bad weather.Earlier, Gill missed most of the Test series against South Africa due to a neck injury sustained in the series opener in Kolkata, which also ruled him out of the three-match ODI series that followed.India currently leads the five-match series 2-1.
