
Several flights at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport have been delayed due to dense fog affecting parts of northern India. Delhi Airport, IndiGo and SpiceJet issued an advisory warning flyers of flight delays and asking them to contact the airline to check flight status before leaving for the airport.
Meanwhile, Mint journalist reported that all IndiGo flights were delayed by more than six hours on Friday. He informed that the airline has meanwhile provided refreshments to all passengers and long queues were observed at the food counters. He said passengers had to go through security again to get to the airport.
Delhi Airport says…
In an advisory issued around 8:00 am on Friday, the Delhi airport said, “Dense fog has led to CAT III traffic at the airport resulting in possible delays and disruptions.”
“Our ground teams are working closely with all stakeholders to assist passengers and provide necessary support at all terminals. Please contact your respective airlines for up-to-date flight information,” the airport said in a statement.
“We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding,” he added.
IndiGo flight delays
A Mint journalist who was at the Delhi airport traveling to Kolkata said that all IndiGo flights at the Delhi airport were delayed by more than six hours on Friday. He said his flight was scheduled for Thursday at 11:55 p.m. However, it was rescheduled to 6:30 a.m. on Friday.
“Dear airman, it is with sincere regret that we have to inform you that your flight with PNR J676NM is delayed due to the subsequent congestion of air traffic,” read the message he received.
In its travel advisory, IndiGo said: “Early morning fog in Delhi and across parts of North India is affecting visibility and affecting flight operations. We request your understanding as this is a seasonal phenomenon and flight movements are being managed accordingly to ensure safe and orderly operations.”
“Customers traveling in the early hours of the morning may experience delays or adjusted timings. We recommend checking the latest flight status before leaving for the airport.” the airline supplied.
It said: “Our teams are actively monitoring weather conditions and coordinating with air traffic authorities. Wherever possible, we are making operational adjustments to minimize disruption and ensure customer support remains available at all key touchpoints.”
“We will keep you updated and get you on your way as soon as conditions permit,” IndiGo added.

SpiceJet also said that due to bad weather in Delhi (poor visibility) and Dubai (rain storm) “all departures/arrivals and their onward flights may be affected. Passengers are requested to check their flight status via
