Former Vice-Chancellor of the University Dr. BR Ambedkara and Director of Valmiki Research Center at Ramanarayanam Temple Dr. Hanumanthu Lajapathirai said the school curriculum needs to be updated to include aspects of the Indian knowledge system. Lessons related to indigenous wisdom, heritage, culture, governance, philosophy, environmental practices, traditional medicine and more need to be included in school education.
He was speaking at a two-day awareness program on ‘The Importance of Valmiki Ramayanam for Contemporary Society – Indian Knowledge System – National Education Policy – 2020’ held at Government College, Vizianagaram on Thursday.
College Principal K. Rekha, Telugu Lecturer M. Rama Geeta Devi thanked the representatives of Ramanarayam Temple for conducting essay competitions for Masters students to create awareness about Ramayana and dharma followed by Lord Rama till January 2, 2026.
