Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin launched the Athlete Management System at the Tamil Nadu Sports Conclave in Chennai on Tuesday.
For the first time, the state government has brought together training, wellness, performance and medical knowledge into a single smart digital platform, he said, adding that from 2023, the conclave has emerged as a powerful platform for exchanging ideas, innovation and inspiration in the development of sports.
Enumerating the steps taken to promote sports in the state, Mr. Udhayanidhi says, “We are building a Chief Minister’s Mini Stadium in all the constituencies of the state, each at a cost of ₹ 3 crore, with at least five sports facilities.”
The Tamil Nadu government provided financial assistance to the players through the Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation even before they participated in major events. The state government has encouraged them with high cash incentives after they win medals, he said. Last year, it gave more than 100 jobs to sportspersons in Tamil Nadu, he recalled.
The initiatives taken by the government are being recognized from various quarters, Mr. Udhayanidhi said, adding that they remain fully committed to strengthening sports infrastructure, scientific support systems, coaching excellence and policy frameworks. “We firmly believe that we will never achieve progress in sports alone. It will be a team effort,” he added.
