US President Donald Trump will deliver a nationally televised address from the White House on Wednesday evening (December 17), with the speech scheduled for 9:00 PM ET.
Trump has not released the topic of the speech, prompting speculation about its focus as he nears the one-year mark of his second administration.
Notice of Truth Social
The president teased the address in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.
“My fellow Americans: Tomorrow night at 9:00 PM EST I will be giving an ADDRESS TO THE NATION, LIVE FROM THE WHITE HOUSE. I look forward to ‘seeing’ you then. It’s been a great year for our country and the BEST is yet to come!” Trump wrote.
Timing in the middle of the second half milestone
The speech comes as Trump approaches one year in office since the start of his second term, a period marked by major policy shifts and heightened political debate. The White House did not say whether the speech will outline legislative priorities, address national security or focus on the administration’s accomplishments.
Previous national address
Trump last gave a formal address to the nation in November after a shooting in Washington, D.C., in which two members of the West Virginia National Guard were wounded.
That speech has focused on public safety and law enforcement, making Wednesday’s speech his first statewide address in months.
