A matrimonial dispute from Amritsar, Punjab drew attention after a man claimed to have found his wife with another man in a hotel, years after a similar incident was resolved within the family. The couple has been married for about 15 years and has children.
According to reports, husband Ravi Gulati claimed that this was the second time his wife had cheated on him. In an interview with local news channel Khabar Har Pal India, Gulati said he had previously discovered his wife with another person in 2018. At that time, the two families intervened, exchanged apologies and the matter was resolved, he said, adding that he had decided to forgive her for the sake of their children.
However, Gulati claimed that the problem has resurfaced recently. He said his wife left home in the afternoon and did not respond to repeated calls urging him to track her location using a GPS device he had installed on her scooter due to lingering suspicions.
Based on location data, Gulati said he arrived at a hotel where he allegedly found his wife with another man. “I was suspicious for more than a year. That’s why I installed a GPS tracker,” he told the channel, adding that he closed his shop and tracked the scooter’s location when she didn’t answer his calls.
The matter has since escalated into a larger family dispute. Gulati’s father Parvez Gulati said the family faced similar problems five to seven years ago when both parties met to resolve the matter amicably. He claimed an apology was issued at the time and the family believed the situation had been resolved.
According to the family, the woman has now said that she does not wish to continue the marriage and wants to return to her parental home. Parvez Gulati also claimed that the man she was recently seen with was earlier introduced to the family as her brother and was a frequent visitor to their house.
The family said they have made repeated attempts to contact her relatives to discuss the matter, but have so far received no response.
A video related to the incident went viral on social media, sparking comments and debates. Journalist and filmmaker Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj, who shared the video on X, raised concerns about the potential legal fallout and abuse of conjugal rights — a claim that remains a matter of opinion, not proven fact.
At this stage there has been no official statement from the woman or her family and no confirmation from the police of any formal complaint or legal proceedings.
