The proceedings in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha witnessed disruption on Monday (Dec 15, 2025) following protests by the finance ministry benches over alleged threats to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s life by some Congress workers.
In the Lok Sabha, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju led the charge, while Union Health Minister JP Nadda took on the Congress in the upper house.

In the upper house, proceedings were adjourned till 12 noon amid uproar after Mr. Nadda condemned the Congress over slogans raised against the Prime Minister.
“It is with pain and a heavy heart that I want to share before the House that slogans were raised in the Congress rally yesterday: ‘Modi teri Kabr khudegi, aaj nahi to kal khudegi’ (Modi’s grave will be dug, if not today, then tomorrow). This type of slogan reflects the thinking and mindset of the Congress party,” Mr U Nadsda said immediately after the papers were laid.
Describing the slogans as “reprehensible”, Mr Nadda said he had shouted such slogans against the Prime Minister and wished his death to be unacceptable and demanded that Congress President and Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge and senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, who were present in the House, apologize to the nation.
“Congress in politics has sunk to a low level beyond imagination. I strongly condemn it,” he added.
As the House witnessed an uproar, Deputy Speaker Harivansh adjourned till 12:00

In the Lok Sabha, Speaker Om Birla paid tribute to three former members of the House who passed away recently as soon as the House was sitting. Soon after, members of the finance ministry quickly rose to their feet to protest the alleged threat to Mr. Modi.
“We are rivals but not enemies. But Congress workers threatened to dig the PM’s grave at the Congress rally (on Sunday). This is the most unfortunate incident that has happened. PM Modi is the leader of 140 million people in the country and the most powerful leader in the world. The Congress party must apologize for the threat,” Mr Rijiju said.
The minister said that when the MP made certain remarks against the opposition, the Prime Minister ordered him to apologise, which he did. “The Congress should now apologize for threatening the Prime Minister,” he added.
As the ruckus continued, the Speaker adjourned the House until 12 noon within minutes of the meeting. When the House reconvened, opposition MPs raised an objection against Congress President KC Venugopal, who wanted to voice a dissent.
BJP MP Dilip Saikia, who was the Speaker, asked Mr. Venugopal to allow zero hour to function and assured him that he would get an opportunity to speak once the scheduled speakers spoke in the House. The Lok Sabha session was adjourned till 2:00 pm as the opposition members did not relent.
On Sunday (December 14, 2025), the Congress party organized a large rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan titled “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod (Vote thief, leave the seat)” to protest alleged election malpractices.
