New details have emerged surrounding the death of 90-Day Fiancé Chuck Potthast’s personality after a 911 call revealed the harrowing circumstances in which he was discovered at his Florida home.
What was revealed about the death of Chuck Potthast in the 911 call?
According to audio obtained by the media, Potthast’s son found him unresponsive and bleeding in the bathtub and called 911, fearing his father was already dead.
Potthast, 64, was known to audiences of the popular TLC series for his appearances alongside his daughter Elizabeth “Libby” Castravet and her husband Andrei Castravet, who became known for his welcoming presence and outgoing personality.
According to the 911 recording, Potthast’s son said his father was “lying in the bathtub bleeding from the chest,” adding that he did not understand what had happened.
When the operator asked if Potthast was conscious, the son replied that he did not believe his father “even looked alive”. The dispatcher advised him to try to roll Potthast onto his side, but explained that his father was lying face down in the bathtub.
News of Potthast’s death was released last month by his daughter Elizabeth Castravet, who described the family as “devastated” by the loss. Another daughter, Rebekah Lichtwerch, paid tribute in an emotional message saying her world had been “warped to a place I don’t understand”.
Potthast was 64 years old.
Friends, fans and fellow cast members have paid tribute to Potthast’s warmth and wit, recalling his role on 90 Day Fiancé as more than just a reality TV character, but also as a devoted father and grandfather.
He also appeared in several spin-offs of the franchise and was remembered for encouraging his family to reconcile during difficult times, once imploring his children to seek therapy to heal the family’s rift.
