Paddy procurement in the state is progressing briskly, with purchase of more than 51.86 million tonnes of grain completed till December 10.
It includes 26.37 million tons of common paddy varieties and another 25.49 million tons of fine varieties (sanna). The value of paddy field acquired so far is ₹ 13,661 crore.
According to civil supplies department officials, the state government had planned to procure 80 thousand tonnes of paddy produced in the Rabi season and opened 8,433 shopping centers for the purpose. The government also paid ₹314 crore as bonus of ₹500 per quintal to farmers for growing fine paddy varieties.
