The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) State Committee has distanced itself from the alleged efforts of state convener PV Anvar to join the United Democratic Front (UDF).
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, AITC State President CG Unni clarified that the speculation about Mr. Anwar’s possible entry into the UDF has nothing to do with the Trinamool Congress.
“The political agenda of the Trinamool Congress is determined and implemented by the party’s national leadership. No individual has been given permission to engage in talks with any political front,” Mr. Unni said.
He added that Mr. Anvar was not associated with the Trinamool Congress in Kerala.
“Trinamool will fight the upcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Kerala as part of our efforts to regain the national party status we once had,” he said.
Mr Unni said neither Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Sunny Joseph nor Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) national general secretary PK Kunhalikutty were given any role in formulating the Trinamool Congress programme.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Joseph hinted that the Congress would consider inducting Mr. Anwar into the UDF.
