Amid continued flight disruptions, IndiGo on Thursday announced travel vouchers worth ₹10,000 for “Severely Handicapped Customers”. The domestic carrier said the vouchers can be used on any future IndiGo journey and are valid for the next 12 months.
The domestic carrier stated that the travel voucher is in addition to the compensation ₹5,000 up to ₹10,000, subject to the block time of the flight, for those customers whose flights have been canceled within 24 hours of the departure time.
IndiGo’s travel vouchers come amid a mammoth disruption to the budget carrier’s operations, which entered its tenth consecutive day on Thursday, December 11. IndiGo canceled more than 220 flights to and from 10 airports on Thursday.
Which flyers get travel vouchers?
— IndiGo noted that several flyers with travel dates of December 3, 4 and 5 were stranded for several hours, many of which were “hard hit” due to congestion. The airline said it will offer travel vouchers worth ₹10,000 to such customers.

The country’s largest airline is also facing regulatory heat, with authorities ordering it to cut winter flights by 10% to stabilize its operations. The carrier operated approximately 2,300 flights a day until the outage began on December 2.
IndiGo crisis: What happened so far
– On Wednesday, IndiGo Chairman Vikram Singh Mehta addressed the wave of allegations surrounding the breach. He dismissed claims that the airline “engineered the crisis” or tried to “influence government rules” as completely false.
– Aviation watchdog, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), on Thursday again summoned IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers and asked him to submit a report detailing and updating the airline’s outages.
— DGCA has set up a surveillance team to monitor the operations of the airline. He also ordered two officers to be permanently stationed at IndiGo’s corporate office in Gurgaon for round-the-clock surveillance.

The pile-up of IndiGo flight cancellations continued for the tenth day on Thursday, with more than 220 flights canceled at 10 airports. At Bengaluru airport alone, 60 were canceled – including 32 arrivals and 28 departures.
