In a bid to strengthen their position in the alliance talks, the Tamil Nadu Congress is bringing the big guns – Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, All India Congress Committee General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge – to Tamil Nadu to address public meetings and attend public rallies.
Speaking to The Hindu, TNCC President K. Selvaperunthagai said that Mr. Rahul Gandhi and Mr. Kharge will address the meeting of the village committee members in Tamil Nadu. “Our leaders Rahul Gandhi and Kharge will address more than 2.5 million people. The rally will be held either in Tiruchi, Delta region, Chengalpattu or Kancheepuram. I will go on a padayatra in January and our leader Rahul Gandhi will probably join me,” he said.
Mr. Selvaperunthagai also said that Ms. Priyanka will attend the Congress Mahila Rally in Tamil Nadu in January. “Two coordination committees were enforced – one for the assembly of village committee members – consisting of Kv thangkabalu, S. ThirunaVukarasar, M. Krishnasamy, KS alagiri, S. peter alphones and ruby manhoharan and another for the mahila assembly consisting of MPs, S. Jothimaniishnan, Sudha Rama. Tharahai Cuthbert and Rani venkatesan,” he said.
