Several villages in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district are all set to make the panchayat elections a pleasant experience for both voters and employees.
Six villages in the district will host green model polling booths, embedded in environment-friendly initiatives, informed Collector and District Electoral Officer M. Hanumantha Rao.
During the first phase of elections, one village each from Alair, Admakur, Bommalaramaram, Rajapet, Thurkapalli and Yadagirigutta mandals will have green polling booths. The stations will be plastic-free.
Further, the entrances to these polling booths will be decorated with flowers and the road to the polling booths will be lined with plants and coconut branches, Mr. Rao said.
Instructions have been issued to use banana leaves or leaf plates instead of plastic plates and clay pots for drinking water have been arranged, he said, attributing the measure to the State Election Commission guidelines. Mr. Rao inspected the arrangements in two villages, Sharajipet in Alair mandal and Saidapuram in Yadagirigutta mandal.
Other villages are Survepally in Atmakur, Pakkirguda in Bommalaramaram, Rustapuram in Thurkapally and Kalvapally in Rajapet.
