The Ministry of External Affairs is considering revoking the passports of Gaurav Luthra and Saurabh Luthra, co-owners of the Goa nightclub where 25 people were killed in a fire on December 6, at the request of the state government.

According to sources, the ministry has received a communication from the Goa government regarding Gaurav Luthra and Saurabh Luthra. It considers the application for cancellation of passports under the Passport Act of India as per the applicable rules.

Brothers Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, who co-own the ‘Birch by Romeo Lane’ nightclub in North Goa, left for Phuket, Thailand shortly after the fire. An Interpol Blue Corner Notice was issued against them.
A Delhi court on Wednesday (December 10) refused to grant the duo any interim protection from arrest while their partner was held in connection with the fire.
In court, the Luthras’ lawyer refuted allegations that they fled, claiming the trip was for a business meeting, and argued that the brothers were only licensees, not actual owners of the nightclub.

Goa police have already arrested five managers and employees in connection with the fire that broke out at a night club in Arpora, 25 km from Panaji, around midnight on December 6.
