As wickets fell around him, Rizwan stood firm to keep Pakistan’s hopes alive, but his defiance also sparked a heated battle of words involving Bangladesh wicketkeeper Litton Das and several nearby fielders.
How the confrontation began
Drama unfolded during the 72nd over when Rizwan suddenly withdrew from his batting stance and complained to the umpires about the movement behind the bowlers. The Pakistan batsman seemed unhappy with the distractions near the boundary area and sought intervention from the officials.Litton Das, clearly frustrated by the interruption, immediately confronted Rizwan. On the stump recordings, the Bangladesh keeper asked, “What are you doing?” When Rizwan pointed to the screen and explained the distraction, Litton replied sharply: “Why are you looking over there? Concentrate on batting here.” Rizwan also did not hold back and fired back by questioning Litton’s authority on the matter. “Is it your job, mine, or the referee’s?” he responded, leading to a tense face-off between the two players. The exchange quickly escalated before referees Allahudien Paleker and Richard Kettleborough stepped in to calm the situation and separate the players.
Bangladeshi players taunt Rizwan on the stump mic
Even after the referees broke up the confrontation, the atmosphere remained heated. Bangladesh’s Bangladeshi fielders continued to verbally target Rizwan, with the stump microphones clearly picking up their comments. In a witty yet sarcastic taunt, one of the fielders used a famous dialogue from the Bollywood film Hera Pheri and said:“We dock 50 paise for overplaying. (You will be charged 50 paise for excessive playing)The comments didn’t stop there. Other fielders were also heard mocking Rizwan’s behavior and accusing him of trying to disrupt Bangladesh’s bowling rhythm.“You’re well behaved, you want to teach everyone,” said one player. Another added: “Now that he’s scored 50, he’s cemented his place in the team, that’s why he’s doing all this.” (The place is packed, the team is packed, that’s why it’s done).
