Ahead of the NEET-UG 2026 examination on June 21, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct a nationwide mock exercise on Saturday as part of its regular preparedness measures. The agency has also put in place extensive security and logistical arrangements to ensure a smooth, secure and transparent examination process.
According to the NTA, conducting the review requires extensive coordination between various agencies and administrative authorities. 674 city coordinators have been assigned to manage operations to oversee city-level measures, while 6,669 observers will provide independent monitoring at test centers. Each center was also staffed by designated superintendents and supervisors.
The agency said more than 2,000,000 personnel, including police and district administration officials, have been deployed nationwide to ensure a smooth, safe and fair re-examination process.
“To ensure a fair and transparent investigation, the NTA has put in place a multi-layered security framework, including comprehensive secure handling of confidential materials under sealed protocols, GPS-enabled vehicles with police escort for movement of investigation materials, CCTV surveillance at all investigation centers linked to centralized control rooms and Aadhaar-based biometric authentication to prevent impersonation,” PTI reported.
“Real-time monitoring through centralized control systems is also carried out,” it said.

The NTA has urged the candidates to rely only on the information released through the official NEET website and not to heed the misinformation circulating from unauthorized sources.
The agency also warned candidates not to believe rumors or fraudulent claims related to the question paper leak and advised them to report any suspicious messages, social media posts or channels to the NTA or cyber crime authorities immediately.
Encouraging students to stay focused, the agency said, “Trust in their preparation and stay calm. For concerns related to mental well-being, NTA has shared official helplines including Tele-MANAS (14416), the 24×7 national mental health helpline,” it said.
How states prepare for NEET-UG 2026 reexamination
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that military personnel will be responsible for transporting the question papers to the examination centers while CCTV cameras will monitor all the venues. Examination centers will also remain under round-the-clock police protection.
As part of the enhanced security measures, bans under Section 144 will be imposed within 100 meters of all investigation centers. Candidates will be subject to two levels of screening and mobile signal jammers will be deployed at each location to prevent malpractices.

A senior police officer of at least the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) will be appointed in each precinct to supervise the security and monitoring of designated lockers.
He also mentioned that a dispatch center will be established in the office of the director of medical education, which will operate from June 19.
West Tripura District Magistrate Vishal Kumar said that all required arrangements, including robust security measures, have been put in place to ensure smooth and transparent conduct of NEET-UG re-examination.
He claimed that personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Tripura Police would be stationed at the examination centers as part of the security deployment.

Gujarat Director General of Police (DGP) GS Malik has directed authorities to keep a close watch on photocopying shops operating near examination centers and ensure strict adherence to the guidelines issued by the NTA. He also called for comprehensive but respectful procedures for candidates.
“Police units have been instructed to conduct thorough but sensitive vetting of candidates, especially female students, while ensuring courteous treatment of parents and guardians,” the report said.
The report further said that intensive night patrols will be conducted from June 19 to 21 in view of the confidential transportation of investigation materials across the state.
Meanwhile, ahead of the NEET-UG examination, the Madhya Pradesh Police and Cyber Cell have intensified security measures and surveillance efforts to facilitate their smooth and secure conduct.
Authorities are also closely monitoring social media platforms to curb the spread of misinformation. According to ANI, more than 400 policemen and personnel have been deployed at the examination centers to maintain law and order and ensure safe and fair conduct of the examination.

Haryana Police on Thursday said that intelligence units have been activated to keep an eye on the activities of anti-social elements. Special checks will be conducted at coaching institutes, hotels, lodges, cyber cafes and other places near the examination centers which have been identified as sensitive.
As per security measures, at least one screening officer will be deployed for every 100 candidates, with women making up at least 50 percent of the screening teams. Handheld metal detectors will also be used during the screening process.

Each investigation center will be equipped with adequate police deployment, duty magistrates, dedicated male and female search teams and Quick Response Teams (QRTs) to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of investigations.
How many students appear for NEET-UG re-examination?
More than 22.79 lakh candidates are expected to appear in the exam.

The NTA has directed candidates to report to their designated examination centers between 11:00 A.M. and 1:30 p.m., noting that entry will not be permitted after the gates close at 1:30 p.m. NEET-UG 2026 re-examination will be held in pencil and paper mode from 2:15 PM to 5:15 PM in 551 cities across India and 14 international locations.
NEET-UG Admit Card for Re-Exam
In a public advisory released on X, the NTA said it is sending reminder SMS messages and emails to candidates to download their admit cards for the NEET-UG 2026 reexamination scheduled for Sunday, June 21.
The agency clarified that authentic SMS communication will be sent through the official sender ID “NICPEP” while emails will come from “no-reply.neet.nta@nic.in.”
He also emphasized that “it is the only official website for this process and advised candidates to enter the URL directly in their web browsers to avoid fraudulent links.
The NEET-UG exam for admission to undergraduate medical courses was initially conducted on May 3 this year. However, the test was canceled on May 12 following allegations of a question paper leak. The matter is currently under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
