Ten more cases of shigellosis have been reported in Kerala

Ten more cases of shigellosis were reported in Kerala on Friday.

Three cases were reported from Kozhikode, two each from Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Malappuram and one case from Palakkad, taking the total number of cases this year to 196. Of these, 120 cases were reported in the month of June.

Other infectious diseases

There is no respite for other infectious diseases either, dengue cases are maintaining an increasing trend and reporting a total of 98 cases across the districts. Leptospirosis also saw a spike, with 21 cases reported on Friday.

Ernakulam accounted for 45 of the 90 cases that were reported across the state.

After a break, a 43-year-old man from Kilimanoor, Thiruvananthapuram, who had returned from Saudi Arabia, was diagnosed with Mpox on Thursday. He is being treated in the isolation ward at Government Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram.
