A welding robot on display at the Advanced Technologies Center (ATC) stall at Bharat Future City, where the Telangana Global Rising Summit-2025 is being held, highlights the government’s efforts to increase technical proficiency among the youth and align training with industry demand through ATC admissions across the state.
According to sources, these welding robots developed by the Japanese company can also be used as pick-and-place robots.
“This nine-axis robot costs around ₹ 30,000. The state government is deploying these robots in all ATCs where students have joined the one-year Industrial Robotics and Digital Manufacturing course. We will teach both theory and practice using Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and other designing software like autocad,” says Shaik Mustafa, M.Tech graduate, M.Tech.
The government has partnered with Tata Technologies to convert 65 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) into ATCs under a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), improving technical capability and tailoring training to industry demand.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka during the summit session explained the state government’s efforts to provide skill development programs in advanced technology and said that they plan to increase the number to 105 by setting up 40 more ATCs across the state.
Students who complete the course can earn around ₹20,000 per month in Hyderabad or go abroad as there is a demand for robotic operators in various industries such as manufacturing, automobile and aerospace as manufacturing units require manpower skilled in handling robots, said another supervisor S. Arun Kumar, adding that even many private colleges do not have this kind of workshop facilities with these robots. It is said that coaches in these ATCs who are hired on contract are paid ₹20,000 per month.
Meanwhile, the summit delegate appreciated the state government’s efforts to help students improve their skills during his visit to the ATC booth. “Our youth lack the skills to operate these advanced machines that are revolutionizing the industry,” he added.
