Held simultaneously in hubs across the country on December 8 and 9, the 36-hour event features 1,360 teams of young innovators solving real-world problems.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan virtually inaugurated SIH 2025 at the national level, describing it as a platform to shape India’s future and acknowledging Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s role in conceptualizing the initiative. In his virtual speech, the Prime Minister praised student innovations from past years and expressed confidence that this year’s ideas will strengthen India’s leadership in technology.
The event is organized by AICTE, Ministry of Education and Institute Innovation Council, with KITS hosting teams from across India. JNTU-K Vice Chancellor CSRK Prasad led the inaugural ceremony at KITS and emphasized that technology should change lives and bridge the gap between industry and academia. KITS Chairman K. Subba Rao said hosting 150 student innovators was a matter of pride and ensured proper arrangements.
Director P. Babu said that India’s Knowledge System Department assigned five thematic challenges to the KITS center, including Kolam Design Logic, Universal Transliteration Tool, Indigenous Astronomical Tools, Gesture Identification in Classical Dance and Classification of Chandas (Poetic Meter), which reflect the integration of heritage and technology.
