Even as the IndiGo flight disruption entered its sixth day on Sunday, the total number of canceled flights at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) fell.
On Sunday morning, airport officials announced that 150 flights had been canceled, including 76 arrivals and 75 departures.
However, unlike previous days where the final number of canceled flights increased significantly as the day progressed, only one more outbound flight was canceled on Sunday as the total number of canceled flights stood at 151.
Although it would take a few more days to return to normal operations, there was little improvement in air traffic to and from Bengaluru compared to the previous days.
There were a total of 165 cancellations on December 5 and 292 cancellations the day before.
The airline said it had resumed operations to 137 out of 138 destinations and the total number of flights also improved to 1,650 compared to 1,500 the previous day.
Meanwhile, other airlines have also announced measures to help those stranded at their destinations in light of the widespread disruption.
Air India and Air India Express have announced measures to help those stranded en route to their destinations, including capping fares and waiving change or cancellation fees.
“Guests who have booked their flights with any carrier by December 4 for travel by December 15 may reschedule their reservations to a future date without paying the applicable rescheduling fee (within the validity of the ticket purchased, as applicable) or may cancel their reservations with a full refund (without applying any cancellation fee). This one-time exception applies in the event of a change or cancellation of transportation through December if any difference in Fardule’s service until December applies, the 8th said.
Regional airline FLY91 has announced a waiver of convenience fees on every booking made through its official website for the month of December.
