As IndiGo’s flight disruption entered its sixth day on Sunday, the domestic carrier issued a statement saying it is on track to operate nearly 1,500 flights by December 7 to resume normal flight operations. According to the airline, its teams are focusing on stabilizing the “network, systems and schedules” to operate more flights with improved stability.
In a post on X, the budget carrier said: “Today we are on track to operate more than 1,500 flights by the end of the day. In terms of destinations, more than 95% of network connectivity has already been restored as we are able to operate up to 135 of the existing 138 in operation.”
This follows nearly 850 flight cancellations reported on Saturday. On Friday, the number was the highest and was marked as the airline’s worst performing day when flight disruptions crossed 1,000, HT reported. After days of chaos and cancellations, IndiGo said around 95% of network connectivity has been restored and flight connectivity to 135 out of 138 destinations has been restored.
Expressing gratitude to customers, employees, its partners and government agencies, he says, “While we understand we have a long way to go, we are committed to building back the trust of our customers.”
DGCA issues root cause notice to IndiGo
Aviation watchdog DGCA issued a show-cause notice to IndiGo chief executive Pieter Elbers and manager-in-charge Isidro Porqueras on Saturday. It asked for a response within 24 hours to the massive disruption to flights as it invoked its regulatory powers to ensure fair and reasonable prices on all affected routes.
In the wake of IndiGo’s operational crisis, confusion and chaos were seen at major airports across India as ticket prices on several routes soared. Frustrated passengers scrambled to find their luggage and waited for updates amid disruptions to their travel arrangements.
The airline informed passengers on Friday that all refunds for flight cancellations will be processed automatically according to their original payment method. “We will offer a full waiver on all requests to cancel/reschedule your bookings for travel between December 5, 2025 and December 15, 2025,” the statement said. For information regarding flight status, refunds and booking changes, passengers must seek assistance from IndiGo’s 6Eskai Al Assistant or golndiGo.in/6Eskai.
