The estranged son of PMK founder S Ramadoss Anbumani on Thursday said he will remain party president till August 2026.
Addressing a press conference in Marakkanam, he claimed that the Delhi High Court on Thursday, after hearing both sides, ruled that the permission and recognition given to him by the Election Commission of India could not be revoked and that if there was any issue with the unrecognized political party, it could be taken up in a civil court.
Mr. Anbumani argued that the court did not raise any objection to the EC recognition granted to him and that the party symbol ‘Mango’ belonged to them.
Asked about the split in the party, he said it will not cause any harm to the party and PMK will secure more votes. “This is the handiwork of the DMK,” he declared, adding, “though they tried to create confusion in the party, they were defeated.”
Referring to the bans imposed in the temple town of Tirupparankundram, Mr. Anbumani said that no parties should be drawn into spirituality and politics and controversy. The verdict of the court must be followed.
Answering a question, he said that a strong and mega alliance would soon emerge in Tamil Nadu and PMK would be a part of it. He further said that people are seething with anger against the ruling DMK and it will show in the assembly elections in 2026.
