
The RT Nagar police arrested 29-year-old Rajashekar and 24-year-old Varaprasad Reddy, MBA and BTech graduates from Andhra Pradesh, and seized 754 kg of red sanders worth ₹75.4 lakh.
According to the police, the duo were unemployed and allegedly confessed to stealing logs stored by an unknown person near Madanapalle in Andhra Pradesh and taking them to Bengaluru in an attempt to sell them.
They were caught before they could reach their clients. The pair were produced before a court and remanded in five-day custody pending further investigation, said KS Tanveer, Deputy Commissioner of Police, who is leading the investigation.
In a similar case, a team of Hulimavu police intercepted a car on November 7 and arrested Ahmed Pasha (29), a resident of Thanisandra. Illegally stored red sanders were in the vehicle.
During interrogation, Pasha allegedly confessed that he and his associates were buying logs at low prices from a supplier in Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh, with the intention of selling them at higher prices in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Based on the information he provided, the police seized 316 kg of red grinders and a car from Tamil Nadu, 496 kg of red grinders and another car from Kulumepalya in Bengaluru.
The total catch in this case was 812 kg. Police also arrested a juvenile who was involved in the rocket attack and were trying to trace one more person who is on the run.
