A woman injured in a gas cylinder explosion at Alkapur Township in Narsingi

A 40-year-old woman was injured after a gas cylinder exploded at an independent house in Alkapur Township in Narsingi on Friday, police said.

The incident was reported on the third floor of a house on Road No. 9 where a woman identified as Geetha was staying at the time of the blast.

According to the police, a high-pressure gas cylinder kept on the balcony suddenly exploded and damaged part of the balcony wall. Debris from the damaged structure fell on Geetha’s legs and she was left injured.

She was immediately taken to a private hospital for treatment. Doctors informed the police that her condition is stable.

On receiving information about the incident, Narsingi police and fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Police said no other injuries were reported in the explosion.

Officials have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the blast. Further details are awaited.
