The CPI(M) is demanding a judicial inquiry into the alleged custodial death of Sai Krishna

Communist Party of India (Marxist) State Secretary V. Srinivasa Rao on Friday demanded a judicial inquiry into the alleged custodial death of Vijayawada youth Gade Sai Krishna, saying the incident raised serious concerns about human rights and police accountability.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao along with CPI(M) State Secretariat Member Ch. Babu Rao and State Committee member Donepudi Kashinath visited Krishnalanka and met the family members of Sai Krishna, expressing solidarity and assuring them of the party’s continued support in their struggle for justice.

Speaking to reporters after meeting the family, Mr. Srinivasa Rao alleged that Sai Krishna was tortured while in police custody and questioned the circumstances of his disappearance. According to him, the authorities are obliged to explain what happened to the young man and publish all the facts related to the case.

“The family has been waiting for answers for more than a month. If the person has been taken into custody, the authorities must answer his whereabouts and ensure transparency,” he said.

The CPI(M) leader rejected the idea of a departmental inquiry, saying an inquiry conducted by police personnel would not inspire public confidence. He called on the government to appoint an independent judicial body to conduct a comprehensive investigation and find out the truth.

Mr Babu Rao described the case as one of the most serious allegations of police conduct in recent years, while Mr Donepudi Kashinath said the family’s claims warranted an impartial and thorough investigation.

CPI(M) leaders P. Krishna and Boyi Satyababu were also present.
