The state government on Monday issued several notifications that made changes in the names of 14 wards and the boundaries of six, spread across five city corporations.
This follows a controversy over the names of several departments and many pointing out anomalies in the boundaries as well as in the final notification, sources said.
For example, the MLA for Yelahanka SR Vishwanath objected to the name of the ward in his constituency being Aakash. It has now been renamed Aero City Ward. Yelahanka old town has been renamed as Raja Kempegowda ward and the ward earlier named after the founder of Bengaluru has now been renamed as Chowdeshwari ward.
While six wards in the East Corporation, four in the North, three in the West and one in the South were renamed, the boundaries of four wards in the South Corporation and two in the Central Corporation were changed.
The state government issued a draft notification with 368 departments in five corporations on 30 September and issued a final notification with 369 departments on 19 November. However, the government making other changes has raised questions.
