Virat Kohli has leapfrogged teammate and Indian captain Shubman Gill in the latest ICC ODI rankings following his heroics in the Ranchi ODI against South Africa. Rohit Sharma, who scored 57 in the series opener, retained the top spot and extended his lead over New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell.
Kohli was in stunning form in Ranchi, scoring 135 off 120 balls to help India secure a 17-run win. He put on a 136-run stand with Rohit which ensured the hosts scored 349 runs in their 50 overs. The knock saw the 37-year-old climb to 4th place with 751 rating points, passing Gill, who has 738. Kohli is now 32 points behind Rohit, who has 783 points.
