The budget presentation, the first by the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) government, will begin at 9 am. Mr Satheesan, who holds the finance portfolio, is set to become the third Congress chief minister in Kerala – after R Shankar and Oommen Chandy – to present the state budget.
Kerala Budget: ‘Land Reforms 2.0’ to review land laws and amend statutes
The previous Left Democratic Front (LDF) government presented its state budget for 2026-27 on January 29 this year. Presented by the then finance minister KN Balagopal, the budget projected ₹1,82,972.10 crore as revenue and ₹2,17,558.76 crore as revenue.
The revised budget is also being presented against the backdrop of a debate sparked by the government’s White Paper in the Assembly, which painted a grim picture of the state’s finances. Among other things, it also demanded a revamp of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB).
