The Committee for Struggle for Implementation of Internal Reservation for Scheduled Castes will go on a march on December 6 in support of their demands for internal reservation to promote social justice.
The march will start from Siddaramanahundi, the native village of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and will coincide with the parinirvana day of Dr. BR Ambedkar. Officials of the committee including Basavaraj Koutal and S. Marappa stated this here on Tuesday.
Addressing journalists, the office bearers said that the government must pass and approve a comprehensive law to implement the internal reservation at the cabinet meeting to be held on December 4. It should also issue all administrative orders to implement the order during the Belagavi assembly session starting this month.
Mr. Koutal said that the state government had already approved the implementation of the internal reservation in the cabinet meeting held on August 19, 2025 and the upcoming assembly session in Belagavi was required to pass a law to support the policy.
The committee, which is an umbrella body for various organizations promoting internal reservations, said that not only should the law be passed, but the government must issue notifications for direct recruitment, promotion and filling of backlogs in various departments.
The committee also asked for internal reservation in the upcoming local body elections. Other requirements included the reservation of a contract based on an internal reservation, approval of land and subsidies for individual institutional bodies for long-term possibilities for the development of municipalities.
Funds were also sought for Adijambava Development Corporation, Safai Karmacari Development Corporation and LIDKAR and the government was urged to give priority to their development.
Questioning the delay since August 2025 in enacting a law that promotes internal reservation for SCs, the office-bearers of the committee urged the state government to show its commitment to the Scheduled Caste groups by introducing internal reservation and ensure their comprehensive development.
Committee members warned that further delay or non-passage of the bill as demanded would lead to siege of offices and homes of all ministers across the state.
