Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) president Anbumani Ramadoss on Thursday (June 18, 2026) welcomed the announcement in the governor’s speech that a social justice survey would be conducted after the census, saying it was an acceptance of the party’s 46-year-old demand.
Describing the announcement as historic, he said, “When Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay came to my residence on May 11, I emphasized the need for a social justice survey to protect 69% reservation in Tamil Nadu. Then on the 5th of this month, we called a meeting in Chennai with leaders of all political parties and social organizations, demanding a social justice survey and approved a social justice survey and approved. Accordingly, a notification to the Governor’s address was issued today. It was announced that the survey will be conducted under the exact title demanded by the Pattali Makkal Katchi – ‘Social Justice Survey’,” Mr. Anbumani said.
Mr. Anbumani said that despite being urged by various Chief Ministers over the past 46 years – from MGR to MK Stalin – this demand was not fulfilled during their tenures but now became possible under Mr. Vijay’s leadership.
