Harry Kane receives an iconic gift from Ronald Nazario, poses with an autographed Brazil shirt
England captain Harry Kane enjoyed an unforgettable fan moment after receiving a signed Brazil shirt from his childhood idol Ronald Nazario after England’s 2026 FIFA World Cup opener against Croatia. The surprise gift came during Kane’s post-match media duties, just hours after the striker inspired the Three Lions to an impressive win with a brace.
Kane was one of England’s leading artists as Thomas Tuchel’s side opened their World Cup campaign with a 4–2 win over Croatia on 17 June. However, after the match, the Bayern Munich forward found himself on the receiving end of a special moment when a Brazilian journalist presented him with a jersey signed by one of the greatest strikers in football history.
The journalist handed over the jersey before revealing its meaning.
“I brought it here for you, this is a shirt signed by Ronaldo,” the journalist told Kane.
The England captain was visibly surprised by the gesture and immediately expressed his gratitude. “Oh wow. Yeah, that’s pretty special. Thank you so much. That’s a nice gift,” Kane replied with a smile.
The journalist then suggested that the gift could have reminded Kane of the players who inspired him during his rise to the top of world football. “I think you’ve had one of the most special years of your career. So I think, I don’t know if it brings back memories,” the journalist added.
Kane was quick to acknowledge Ronaldo’s influence on the game and the significance of receiving a gift associated with the Brazilian legend. “Yeah, no, that’s really thoughtful. I appreciate it. What a special shirt and obviously from one of the best players. So yeah, I really appreciate it,” he said.
Affectionately known as ‘O Fenomeno’, Ronaldo remains one of football’s most iconic figures. The two-time World Cup winner with Brazil scored 62 goals for his country and enjoyed trophy-laden spells with some of Europe’s biggest clubs. His pace, skill and clinical finishing made him a role model for a generation of strikers, including Kane.
ENGLAND START WORLD CUP WINNERS
Kane’s special moment came after he starred in England’s 4-2 win over Croatia. Goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic initially saved Kane’s effort, but the penalty was awarded again after the Croatian striker swerved off his line too soon. Kane made no mistake at the second attempt and calmly converted to give England the lead.
Croatia responded through Martin Baturina, whose powerful strike beat Jordan Pickford to level the scores in the 36th minute. However, England regained the advantage before half-time when Kane rose highest to meet a Declan Rice corner and head home to move level with Gary Lineker’s record of 10 World Cup goals for England.
The Three Lions took full control in the second half, with Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford adding further goals to seal a comfortable 4-2 win and start their World Cup campaign on a winning note. England will play Ghana on June 24 before finishing the group stage against Panama on June 28.
