Fast bowler Arjun Tendulkar continued his brilliant run with the ball in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, representing Goa after transferring from Mumbai ahead of the 2025-26 domestic season. On Wednesday, Arjun, son of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, produced another impressive spell as he took three wickets in four overs against Madhya Pradesh in Salt Lake, Kolkata.
Arjun finished with figures of 3 for 36 from his four overs, conceding just five runs in his first two overs. He was brought into the attack right from the start of the game and given the responsibility of bowling with the new ball. He struck immediately, removing Madhya Pradesh opener Shivang Kumar before dismissing his counterpart Ankush Singh in his second over. Arjun then took the big wicket of former Kolkata Knight Riders and India all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer, who struggled for fluency and managed just six off 13 deliveries. He was also involved in the dismissal of Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Madhya Pradesh skipper Rajat Patidar, completing a catch off the bowling of Koushik V.
Arjun’s fiery effort helped Goa restrict Madhya Pradesh to 170 for 6 in their 20 overs. In response, he gave his side a flying start at the top of the order, smashing three boundaries in a 10-ball 16. The left-hander has been opening the batting for Goa in the tournament and has been consistently providing brisk starts.
In the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Arjun has taken six wickets in four matches at a healthy economy of 7.70. He also contributed with the bat, scoring 65 runs at a strike rate of 120.
He played a key role in Goa’s 50-run win over Chandigarh in November with a fire spell with a new ball.
A NEW BEGINNING
Arjun was encouraged Lucknow Super Giants are putting their faith in him. The all-rounder was traded to LSG from Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction scheduled to take place on December 16. Arjun got his first IPL experience in 2021 when he was bought by Mumbai Indians, although he did not feature in his first two seasons. He made his debut in 2023, playing four games and making one more appearance in 2024 before warming the bench during the 2025 campaign.
Before the IPL move to Lucknow, Arjun also moved from his home environment in Mumbai to Goa to pursue other opportunities. He took 11 wickets in five matches and scored 88 runs in the first phase of the Ranji Trophy earlier this year.
With Mohammed Shami also joining Lucknow Super Giants from Punjab Kings, Arjun will now have an established senior pro to learn from in the upcoming IPL season.
