Andhra Pradesh has extended welfare support to nearly 65,000 beneficiaries of the NTR Bharosa Pension Scheme, Power Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar said on Monday. Attending a pension distribution event at Yeleswarapalem in Bapatla district, the minister handed over the pensions at the doorsteps of the beneficiaries and reviewed the delivery of government services.
Mr. Ravi Kumar said the coalition government, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, had allocated more than ₹ 34,000 crore to ensure early pensions. He worked with villagers to assess the functioning of village secretariats and verify that social security programs were reaching all eligible families. Criticizing the previous YSRCP regime, he said that none of the spousal pensions were granted earlier, but the current government has sanctioned more than one crore.
A tractor was also delivered to a local farmer as part of the subsidy program. The minister said the government is offering 90% subsidy on key farm machinery and up to 100% subsidy for SC and ST farmers. He said that the current administration has settled all pending paddy purchase charges and directly credited the payments to the farmers.
He later distributed 162 free bicycles to the students of Mailavaram Zilla Parishad High School, appreciating NREDCAP and ASSIST for supporting the initiative. More than 5,300 bicycles have been provided in Addanki to improve school attendance. Mr. Ravi Kumar said that government schools are being modernized and added that 16,300 qualified teachers have been recruited through DSC.
He also inspected the lunch menu and ordered officials to maintain strict quality standards. Parents, students and local officials participated in the programs.
