MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad has achieved autonomous status and has become the first aided or government college in Palakkad district to earn this recognition.
From the next academic year, the college will independently conduct admissions and examinations of students in accordance with government and university regulations, Principal C. Rajesh said.
MES Kalladi College was established in 1967 and was the first arts and science college under the Muslim Education Society (MES). Today, it offers 35 academic programmes, including undergraduate, postgraduate and research courses.
The college received an A++ grade in its latest NAAC accreditation in January this year. Last year, it was selected under the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-UShA) and received a grant of ₹5 crore.
The college hosts international students on its campus under the Centre’s Study in India program and maintains academic collaborations with universities in Indonesia and the Philippines.
