Rangayana Theater Repertory will be conducting a month-long weekend theater festival from November 30. This heralds the silver jubilee celebrations of its flagship presentation of the National Theater Festival, Bahuroopi, which will take place in January 2026.
Satish Tiptur, director of Rangayana, said the weekend-long theater festival will present plays of various repertoires of Rangayana in the state.
Mr. Tiptur said the weekend theater festival will be inaugurated on November 30 with the play ‘Gulamana Swatantrya Yatre’ by Karkala Rangayana. He will be followed on December 1 by ‘Mahatmara Baruvigagi’, also Karkala Rangayana.
On December 7, Mysuru Rangayana will present the play My Family, while on December 14, Shivamogga Rangayana artists will stage ”Nammolaobba Gandhi”.
People Playharva will have a performance and Davagerenga on December 21, December 2
The Play Kalachakra Kalaburagi Rangayana will perform on January 4, 2026 and is directed by Hulugappa Katti peani.
The venue for all the games is Bhoomigeetha at Rangayana Complex and the games will start at 6:30 PM.
Mr. Tiptur said that this is the first time that a theater festival is being held that has only Rangayana plays. “This is building the atmosphere and atmosphere for Bahuroopi, the details of which will be announced in due course,” he added.
The theme of Bahuroopi 2026 will be Babasaheb and the theater festival, according to Mr. Satish Tiptur, will start in the second week of January 2026. The government has released ₹1 million as a grant for 25 years of Bahuroopi, he added.
Mallikarjun Swamy, Deputy Director, Department of Kannada and Culture was present. A poster for the upcoming weekend festival was also released on the occasion.
