A person “ends life”; alleged police harassment
A fresh video that surfaced on Thursday brought to light yet another case of alleged police harassment at the NTR police station.
The video shows that one Perupogu Kranthi Kumar (42) ended his life by consuming some poison in Vijayawada on May 21, 2026. The victim allegedly took a selfie video of Krishnalanka allegedly harassing Circle Inspector (CI), Nagaraju, before resorting to the extreme step.
Based on a complaint lodged by Kranthi Kumar’s father, Perupogu Venkateswara Rao, state president of the Madiga Reserve Porata Samithi (MRPS), the Krishnalanka police registered a case under Section 194 (suspicious death) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
“I am unable to bear the harassment of Krishnalanka CI, Nagaraju. The police have been torturing me for the last three months. The CI is responsible for my death,” Mr Kranthi Kumar is reported to have said in a selfie video.
After the suspected disappearance of Gade Sai Krishna, 25, this was the second alleged incident of police harassment reported at the Krishnalanka police station in May.
In his complaint, Mr. Venkateswara Rao said that Kranthi Kumar was left by his wife due to family disputes and the police visited his house in connection with some cases.
On May 21, when the police visited the house and knocked on the door, the victim allegedly panicked and ingested the poison. He was taken to a private hospital and then to the Government General Hospital (GGH) where he died during treatment the same day, the complaint said.
