Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Warangal, Vice Chancellor, Dr. PV Nanda Kumar Reddy resigned following serious allegations of “administrative and investigative irregularities”. The resignation came shortly after Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy sought a detailed explanation from senior officials of the medical and health department regarding reports highlighting irregularities in the functioning of the university.
Mr. Nanda Kumar is facing charges related to irregularities in the evaluation of examination papers, arbitrary appointment of responsible officers and other procedural irregularities. According to sources, he tendered his resignation to the Governor after a meeting with senior officials of the Medical and Health Department in Hyderabad on Friday.
A preliminary inquiry by a three-member commission of inquiry constituted by the chief secretary to investigate a complaint that a post-graduate medical student was illegally awarded extra marks and declared passed in violation of norms has reportedly found irregularities in the functioning of the examination branch. Following this, the Chief Minister expressed displeasure over the emerging news and directed the officials to submit a detailed account of how such a violation was allowed to happen in a premier academic institution.
