Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the government had asked the Center to issue a notification recognizing Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing the farmers who had given their land for the development of the Amaravati capital region at the Secretariat on Thursday, Mr. Naidu assured that he would seek exemption from paying capital gains tax for them for a longer period.
Mr. Naidu told the farmers to bring their problems to the attention of a high-level committee headed by Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar.
He said he had given permission to grab land for the development of the capital city under the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) and was ready to resolve issues with it.
He claimed that the government was committed to pass on the benefits of Amaravati development to the farmers, advising them not to sell their reversionary lands as their prices would have to increase at an impressive rate.
Mr Naidu told farmers to look at Hyderabad to understand the value of development, noting that land there, which was once cheap, fetched astronomical prices of up to ₹170 crore per acre.
He expressed his intention to sail LPS-2 to move the development of the capital forward. Mr. Naidu said he would decide on farmers’ demand for increase in Floor Area Index (FSI) benefits after due consideration.
The CM called upon the farmers to unite in the face of the misinformation campaign unleashed by the YSR Congress Party on the development of Amaravati.
