If voters do not submit the census forms distributed under the ongoing Special Intensive Review (SIR) of electoral rolls by December 4, their names will not appear in the draft electoral rolls to be released on December 9, Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik said on Thursday.
At the same time, forms in which only the first part was filled in will be taken into account. “If voters do not find their name or their relative’s name in the 2002/2005 lists, if the voter submits the signed enumeration form to the BLO (booth level candidate) by December 4, 2025, their name will appear in the draft voter list to be published on December 9, 2025,” Patnaik said in a press release from M.
Voters who could not be sent census forms “despite three home visits” will also not appear in the draft voter list, she said. If the voter’s name did not appear in the nomination list, they can use the claim and objection period to re-introduce their name by submitting Form 6 along with the declaration form.
The claims and objections period is between December 9, 2025 and January 8, 2026, when voters can request inclusion or deletion. An objection to an existing entry can be preferred by a person whose name already appears in the voters’ list of the constituency, Ms. Patnaik said.
The notice (hearing and verification) phase runs from December 9, 2025 to January 31, 2026. During this period, the EROs will issue notices and schedule hearings whenever necessary after verifying the eligibility of proposed electors. After processing all claims and objections, the final voter list will be published on February 7, 2026.
During the ongoing enumeration phase, enumeration forms have been distributed to about 6.23 lakh voters out of 6.41 lakh voters in Tamil Nadu. “The names of all the voters who have filled and returned the enumeration form will be included in the draft voter list which will be released on December 9,” Ms. Patnaik said.
“Voters who have received the enumeration forms are requested to fill their enumeration forms and submit them immediately to the booth level officer or help desk and not to wait till December 4, 2025 to avoid the last minute rush,” the CEO said. She further called for full cooperation in submitting the completed census form and participating in the democratic process.
