Air India Express on Thursday said its flight (IX 2884) from Guwahati to Hyderabad was canceled due to “unforeseen operational reasons”.
The clarification came after Indian cricketer Mohammed Siraj publicly called out the airline over the delay in the departure from Guwahati and the lack of communication regarding it.
“We regret to inform you that the flight has been canceled due to unforeseen operational reasons. Our team at the airport is actively assisting all guests with the necessary arrangements. We understand how difficult this situation is and truly appreciate your patience and understanding. We assure you that our team will continue to keep you informed and extend all possible support,” Air India Express responded under Siraj’s post on X.
Indian cricket team fast bowler Siraj on Wednesday evening expressed distress over the delay in the departure of the flight, which was scheduled to take off at 7.25pm, pointing to a lack of communication by the airlines.
“Air India flight no IX 2884 from Guwahati to Hyderabad was supposed to depart at 7:25 AM but there was no communication from the airline and after repeated monitoring they just delayed the flight without proper justification. This was really frustrating and this is the basic demand of every passenger,” he wrote on X.
“Flight delayed 4 hours and still no update leaving us deadlocked. Worst airline experience ever. I really wouldn’t advise anyone to take this flight unless they can take a stand,” he added.
