The Hyderabad Heritage Run, a large-scale cultural and sporting event designed to celebrate the city’s architectural wealth, will be held on February 1. The initiative is being organized by the Government of Telangana through the Department of Youth Development, Tourism and Culture (Sports) with the support of Telangana Tourism and Sports Authority of Telangana.
Unveiling a poster for the event at Taramati Baradari on Tuesday, Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said the run is being positioned as a global platform to highlight Hyderabad’s heritage. “Conceived as more than a sporting activity, the event is meant to be a tribute to the city’s living history. The planned routes connect some of Hyderabad’s most iconic landmarks, turning the city into what he described as a unique heritage corridor for the participants,” he said.
The 21 kilometer half marathon will start at Charminar and end at Qutb Shahi Tombs. It passes through the High Court, City College, Legislative Assembly, Golconda Fort and Taramati Baradari before reaching the destination point. The 5km and 10km categories will start and finish at the Qutb Shahi Tombs.
Telangana Tourism Development Corporation CEO Kranti Valluru, Rapido representative Umesh and several senior officials were present at the launch of the poster.
