India vs. Pakistan again at ICC event; T20 World Cup Schedule is out!
Rohit’s journey in the format stretches from 2007, when he scored an unbeaten 30* in a thrilling final against Pakistan, to 2024, where he led India to a long-awaited second title. The 2024 campaign included big contributions, including a decisive 92 off 41 balls against Australia in the Super Eights and a half-century in the semi-final against England. It was after he lifted the trophy that he retired from T20Is. Speaking about his new assignment, Rohit said, “It’s great to have the tournament back in India and for me to be associated with the tournament again, this time in a new capacity as a brand ambassador,” adding, “I wish all the players the best and hope they have an unforgettable time and enjoy the Indian hospitality while taking away a lot of memories.” At the launch event in Mumbai, Rohit also hinted that he will remain associated with the current T20 squad. He said he plans to meet the team members during the upcoming ODI series and offer them guidance when needed. “There’s always a conversation going on between the players and I’m someone who likes to talk and discuss and get into their mindset a bit and understand what they’re thinking,” he said. The panel also featured Suryakumar Yadav and Harmanpreet Kaur, where the discussion briefly shifted to potential final match opponents.

Who would like to see India face off in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup T20?
Asked who he would like to face in the title race, Suryakumar said, “Definitely Australia,” reflecting on defeat in the 2023 ODI World Cup final. However, Rohit reiterated that the opponent is not as important as securing the trophy itself. With India gearing up for another big domestic event, Rohit’s presence, albeit in a different capacity, keeps him firmly in the loop as the build-up builds.
