The Ashok Nagar police arrested three students from Kerala for allegedly assaulting an employee of a private firm across the parking lot outside his house on October 22. The accused have been identified as Basil Verghese, Taras Raji and Sandeep Mahadev, students pursuing BBA, MSc and B.Tech respectively.
According to the police, the incident took place around midnight on October 22 when the trio planned their trip and booked a Zoomcar. When they arrived in the neighborhood to pick up the vehicle, the victim, Azar Ahmed, noticed unfamiliar faces and questioned them about their presence and why they were parking their car in that area.
Police said the interrogation angered the trio, who allegedly attacked Ahmed without provocation. Despite Mr Ahmed’s efforts to clarify, the youths became more aggressive, knocking him to the ground, beating and stomping on him as he lay unconscious.
Several residents of a nearby building recorded the attack on video before alerting the police. The video soon went viral, prompting the police to quickly intervene.
