
Former Miss India and runner-up Miss Universe Celina Jaitly Haag has filed domestic violence proceedings against her husband Peter Haag in a Mumbai court. In her first reaction after the lawsuit was filed, the model posted on Facebook saying that “the promises she believed in have been quietly broken” and that her “priority remains to fight for her soldier brother, to fight for the love of her children, to fight for her dignity.”
Jaitly, in her application filed through law firm Karanjwala & Co, accused husband Peter Haag of domestic violence, cruelty and manipulation under the provisions of the Domestic Violence Act.
The 47-year-old actress alleged that she suffered severe emotional, physical, sexual and verbal abuse from her husband, which forced her to flee her home in Austria and return to India, a PTI report said.
After a preliminary investigation, the municipality issued a formal notice to Peter Haag. The case is scheduled to be heard again on December 12.
What did Celina say in her plea?
The former Miss India claimed in the lawsuit that Haag forbade her to work after her marriage. “The respondent (Haag) is a narcissistic, self-centered individual. He has a hot-tempered temper and a penchant for alcohol, which consistently causes stress to the complainant (Jail),” PTI said, citing the lawsuit.
The 47-year-old actor also cited several instances where her husband indulged in physical and verbal abuse.
Jaitly was looking for a direction for which her estranged husband would pay the amount ₹50 million as compensation ₹10 lakhs per month as maintenance.
