Former Miss India and runner-up Miss Universe Celina Jaitly Haag has filed domestic violence proceedings against her husband Peter Haag in a Mumbai court. The complaint, which includes allegations of domestic violence, cruelty and manipulation, was placed before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) SC Tadye in Andheri for verification on Tuesday. After a preliminary investigation, the municipality issued a formal notice to Peter Haag. The case is scheduled to be heard again on December 12.
According to a report by news agency ANI, the former actor was also looking ₹50 crore in damages along with additional compensation for the loss of income and property she allegedly suffered. Peter Haag, who is based in Austria, will have to respond to the notice as part of the court proceedings.
Marriage and family
Celina Jaitly and Peter Haag were married in 2011 in Austria. The couple welcomed twins in March 2012. They had another set of twins in 2017, but the family suffered a tragic loss when one of the babies died of a hypoplastic heart condition.
Celina’s career
Known for her roles in No Entry, Golmaal Returns, Thank You, Apna Sapna Money Money and Money Hai Toh Honey Hai, Celina has stayed out of the limelight in recent years and has been in the news mainly for high-profile personal matters.
Previous legal reason for the brother’s detention
The domestic violence complaint follows another recent legal move by the actress. Last month, she approached a Delhi court seeking a plea against her brother, Major (retd) Vikrant Jaitly, whom she claimed was “unlawfully abducted and detained” in the United Arab Emirates, where he has been living since 2016.
Her brother worked for the MATITI Group, a consulting, trading and risk management company. Celina claimed that since his reported detention in September 2024, the Department of Foreign Affairs had been unable to provide basic details about his situation, legal status or security. The court later ordered authorities to ensure that the family could contact him and facilitate communication with both Celina and his wife.
