According to officials, the reservation notices for Sarpanch and ward members as submitted by district collectors from all districts have been forwarded to the SEC. The government decided to hold elections based on the existing reservation system.
Along with reservations for BC, SC and ST categories, the government has also completed the reservation process for women, which was implemented through a lottery system.
Meanwhile, she was scheduled to appear before the Supreme Court on Monday for hearing a petition related to the Panchayat elections. However, the case is expected to be heard on Tuesday, after which the SEC is likely to issue a notice of election.
The State Election Commission has already made logistical arrangements to conduct elections in 1,12,288 constituencies of 12,733 panchayats across the state in three phases. Officials say the SEC is ready to move forward as soon as it receives the court’s direction.
